An Important Message From Our Ministry

There are many today that receive teaching from some ministers just because they are popular in the Body of Christ or have a huge television ministry. One may feel that they have God’s blessing and truth because they look so successful. This may or may not be the case. We are not to judge by outward appearances, but to discern truth from error by the Holy Spirit. (I John 4:1-6) We are also to study the scriptures on a daily basis to prove whether a teaching or prophecy is truth from God according to His Spirit and Word, the Bible. (II Timothy 2:15, I Thessalonians 5:21, I Corinthians 12:10, I John 4:1) Believers in the New Testament have direct access to God because of the sacrifice of Jesus and the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit to teach them personally. (I John 2:24-28) It can be a big mistake to receive teaching from others if we have not studied a subject thoroughly for ourselves and asked God to give us understanding by His Holy Spirit. Before we obey the teachings and receive the prophecies of others, it is crucial for believers to understand the difference between true and false teaching and prophecy according to the authority of God’s Word and not by anyone’s private interpretation. It is only when others are speaking by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that we should receive it as from God. (II Peter 1:19-21)

Not all today are speaking by the Spirit. (I Timothy 4: 1-5, II Peter 2:1-3) The Apostle Peter warned of false prophets and teachers among the Church. It may be that one is not a false teacher or prophet, but a sincere Christian that just believes and teaches falsely in a particular area due to traditions of man or ignorance. Either way, how do we know if someone is speaking by the Spirit of God or not? The bible teaches us ways in which we may separate truth from error. (To find out how, read the article God, Is That You?) The Lord does not want His people deceived, but to know the truth that will set them free. We need to know whom we are following after and where we are headed. (Matthew 7:13-14)

Because there may be some things on this site that may be different from what you were taught in your upbringing, church or denomination, please do not disregard it totally. We ask that you pray, study and weigh carefully what is being taught on this site. If we have a ready mind and willing heart, God will open our eyes and show us those things that He wants us to know by His Spirit. (Acts 17:10-11, I Corinthians 2:9-16) We can only understand His truths as revealed by His Holy Spirit. We cannot understand the things of God with our natural, carnal mind or go by outward appearance, but they can only be spiritually discerned. Please pray for spiritual discernment as you study our material. God communicates Spirit to spirit and wants to reveal His truths to us personally by revelation knowledge. We should realize that deception may come in many packages, but we must rely on God to show us truth from error, for He alone is the Source of all truth!

Of course none of us have perfect knowledge; only God has that. We believe that all of us in the Body of Christ are growing in grace and knowledge and that when God shows us that we are wrong in any particular area, then we must be willing to change to conform to His will. (II Peter 3:18, Romans 12:2) This is not just a superficial statement from us here at Truth and Spirit Ministries. We are not telling you to do something that we do not practice ourselves. Our lives have been one of constant change and growth. Over the years, whenever God has shown us where we needed to make changes in what we believe, we accept His correction and receive these things by faith in His Word. We must always remain teachable and not allow pride to blind us to the truth. We should not be afraid to admit that we have been wrong. All of us have believed things that were not true at one time or another and have certain “mindsets” that need to be dismantled. God, in effect, must dismantle or tear down false teaching in our minds in order to make room for the truth that He wants to impart to us.

Many times we are not only learning what is truth, but unlearning false teaching as well. We all make mistakes, we just need to learn from them and continue to grow in the Lord. It is important to make sure that the authority of God and His Word can back up what we are learning. False teaching is dangerous for it will obscure our understanding of God and who He is and leads us away from Him, but the truth leads us to Him. (Galatians 5:4, I Timothy 4:1, Titus 1:14) Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life…” (John 14:6)

In this scripture we learn that truth is not only just words, but also alive in the person of Christ, the Son of the Living God. (John 1:1-4, Hebrews 4:12, Revelation19: 13) So when we are receiving truth, we are not only receiving written words from books, a spoken word via the Internet, television, radio, or in person, we are receiving the spirit behind it as well. We are all commanded to try the spirits to find out whether they are of God or not. (I John 4:1-6) God teaches us to “Prove all things, and hold fast to that which is good”, also to “Study to show ourselves approved”, and to be as the noble Bereans who “Received the Word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily to see if these things were so.” (I Thessalonians 5:21, II Timothy 2:15 and Acts 17:11)

We believe and practice these truths to the best of our ability. In order to receive understanding, we should seek the Lord in prayer, studying His word and at times, fasting as we are led by the Holy Spirit. When we ask God for the truth, it is certainly His will and good pleasure to give us the answers! We cannot receive though, unless we ask. (James 4:2) Our prayer for all our visitors is that they would do the same. We all need to understand the rich inheritance given to us by our Lord. (Romans 8:16-17) God bless you as you grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ! Along with Paul we pray for you, “I keep asking the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.” (Ephesians 1:17-19 NIV)
